DICE, chapter 300 (reader)

Wow, another big round number!

DICE 300

Here is the original (click-support if only for the numerical achievement!) and here is the latest browser-based English official release by LINE. (Via the smartphone application, you can read three more chapters.)

The next chapter has a delay warning in Naver, without a set date.

About that… this is just speculation, but I wonder whether something is happening to the author in real life for the past couple months. The period of chapters with little plot progression and little text has been more or less the period of late releases and low rates.

Some people think that we don't cut other workers any slack when they have trouble in real life and that affects their work, so why should we cut webtoonists any? Well, if I put myself in this author's shoes, he's married and has had two daughters in the course of producing DICE.

I dunno what kind of contract webtoonits have with Naver. I don't think any outsider does. If they are paid for output, and don't receive any wages between the end of one project and the beginning of the next one, I should think a father of two would be under great pressure to extend the run of a series until they are ready to begin the next with as short an interval as possible.

Of course I don't think that should be cause to be less critical of releases. Personally, I'm not bothered by chapters with little progression. Any series, even my favourite ones like this, has its ups and downs. (With the possible exception of FMA.) In this case, I'll just keep enjoying the art and the dialogues until he gets his act together and brings the series to its conclusion. All of the above is speculation. Perhaps he's under a writer's block for the conclusion. Perhaps he's just feeling lazy.

Some people take breaks from reading in periods like this and come back after a few months so they can binge through the slow-progression part.

The wrong links for raws after chapter 293 have been corrected. Kudos to lfaccidentwill for spotting the mistake.
