DICE, chapter 156 (reader)

Here's the chapter:

DICE 156

You can read the original here (visiting it and giving it a high score help the author a good deal), and the latest official English release by LINE is here.

DICE, chapter 155 (reader)

Okay, here it is!

DICE 155

Fortunately, this chapter wasn't terribly hard, so Fábio and Jun were able to redraw it in the past 24 hours. (Less than that, actually, but I only had time to release now.)

The original is here (visiting it is caring for the author), and the latest chapter in the English official version by LINE is here.

Delay notice for chapter 155

Well, technically not a delay according to our same-week semi-policy, but a "delay" relative to the pace of the past few weeks of same-day or same-weekend releases.

The chapter only needs redrawing, all else is done. Jun and Marx are busy in real life, and Fábio is still on his trip until the 23rd. (And after he comes back, returning from a trip takes some settling down, so I don't expect his immediate re-engagement in scanlation work. Real life always first!)

Yes, even with two standing redrawers and one back-up, this kind of thing still happens.

So, you heartless leeches of society, rest assured that we'll do our best to get a timely release.

Edit (Thursday evening): Fábio is back in business and has already redrawn much of the chapter. Jun has also sent word that she will help tomorrow. Stay tuned for a possible Friday release. (No promises, though.)

DICE, chapter 154 (reader)

And here it is!

DICE 154

The chapter wasn't even that easy, but compared to the previous ones, it was a walk in the park. Mercifully that damn doll kept her … mouth shut for most of the chapter.

The original is here, and you ought to visit it to support the author. And last time I checked, the ragestorm was still strong on the latest English official release here.

Dicescans is two years old!! \o/

… and it more or less coincides with our 100th chapter of DICE a few weeks ago, too!

The second year was less eventful than the first, and that's a good thing. We introduced Disqus moderation in the comments, and attentive readers will have noticed a certain nuisance in the past month or so, but never mind that.

Compared to the first year, when we had to rely on all offers of helping hands - and some help offered after dedicated grovelling on our part -, this year the operation ran smoothly thanks to the assistance of more regular back-ups. Those include our good friends Jun, our back-up redrawer, and Jay, our back-up translator, both of whom are generous to no end with their skills. And we can't forget the lovely Kaoru, who held the typesetting front bravely while I was travelling.

Also added to the team as a back-up while I was travelling, Marx was at first a cleaner, then revealed herself a superb redrawer and ended up as our fourth regular member. During our recent period of same-day or same-weekend releases, her tag team with Fábio has been pretty much the reason for our success.

(About that, Fábio is on a trip until the 23rd, so there may be delays in the next couple of chapters.)

We should also mention visitors whose dedication to DICE led them to make unexpectedly creative contributions, like our good friend Michele, who designed a 3D-printing version of the Golden Die; Demotivator, who built up on my initial effort to make a Wikia and developed it into a tremendous page; and Slav Kolev, who turned the stills of the collapsing pile of Dice in the end of chapters into a neat animated GIF.

Our comment section also grew. In part due to the downright heated somewhat acrimonious but ultimately interesting discussions I've had with Trunks, Whatever, Void User and others, but also due to the continued interest and thoughtful contributions of many other readers, old and new. It's a fair assessment to say that this comment section has become (and I read most, if not all the others) one of the best places to discuss DICE in public.

Finally, it was also a year of hard work. The author has grown ambitious and recent chapters have featured complex art and more pages per episode. I can say that when season 03 ends, I will enjoy the break!

And enough of my tedious ravings. First and foremost, a round of cheers for another great year to our founder and leader, who makes Dicescans possible, our one and only Jin!!!

DICE, chapter 153 (reader)

Whew!

DICE 153

This chapter was unspeakable hell to redraw and one of the hardest I've had to typeset. Fortunately, typesetting helped redrawing, so Jun was able to make the miracle happen and get it done today after Marx' protracted battle against the first (untypeset) pages yesterday. Jun also got the nice stripe effects on some words you will see in this chapter.

Don't forget that this chapter has BGM, which I loaded in the Soundcloud widget at the right of this page.

Finally, remember to visit the author's original to support him (even though he has been making life really hard for us these times :P ). Here is the latest English official release by LINE. (This Wednesday the readers there who refuse to read scanlations for whatever reason are going to find out Eunju becomes an A-Ranker! You can't miss that, the rage storm promises to be epic! \o/ )

153 will come late

Although we have never changed our previous commitment to mid-to-late week releases, we have been doing same-day or same-weekend releases for a while now.

It's perfectly understandable if you got used to that, so I think you deserve to know that there's a good chance that this time it will be different. Chapter 153 is even harder than 152, because Blue Fairy spends a lot of time speaking. Fábio is also unavailable today due to real life matters, so as of now Marx is fighting the beast all on her own. The chapter is translated and cleaned, and I'll typeset it straight away, but it will take a while to get it redrawn. Stay tuned.

On the up side, this is a BGM chapter!
