Big round number!

Ladies and gentlemen, straight from the distant Korean Peninsula comes the 100th chapter:

DICE 100

This chapter was not so difficult for Fábio or for me, relative to the average.

I'm going to explain my take on a concept that appeared in it now, so only read further when you finish the chapter.

"Blind betting" is a concept in poker and similar games. It essentially consists of a compulsory bet levied on players in a given round (there are more details, you can read about it in Wikipedia), even if they have no intention of betting on their own. As in all bets, these are added to the pot and awarded to the winner.

In the case of DICE, the reason we haven't added this information as a note is that we still don't have details, but if we follow the logic outlined above, X is essentially levying a cost in Dice on all A-Rankers who take part in the bet. We don't know how many points each Dicer has at stake, but this essentially means there will be an award in Dice to the team who wins.

Notice that if this interpretation is correct, this is extremely favourable for the Defence team. Because they are only two, the pot will be divided into fewer people than if Attack wins, thus the prize for Mio and Dongtae will be bigger. And in his case, because he has already activated all the three Dice Che-hyun gave him, he has nothing to be seized by X in the blind bet, and thus won't be harmed much by a defeat. And if he wins, he will be out of his current dire straits by replenishing his stock of Dice.

In any case, this is how I interpret it. If there is a different explanation in future chapters, we will know then.

  1. Perhaps because Dongtae has nothing to be seized by X his potential reward will be limited? Or perhaps that hammer die is worth a lot (ie a certain # of regular die), and thus Dongtae actually has something to lose -- whether or not he cares about losing that die is a different discussion.

The way this is going, I don't see how defense can win. At least... Dongtae should not be able to do much on his own without time pause; someone will have to help him.

    1. I hadn't thought of the Enchant Die... somehow in my mind betting only applies to ordinary Dice, but you may be right.

I don't think Dongtae exhausted his Time Pause points. Going by the average number of points on a Dice roll, he should have 10 or 11 points from those three Dice, or a little less than two minutes of Time Pause, so he must have a few more seconds left.

And let's not forget that he bought many store items in advance to the War, so he probably still has a few tricks up his sleeve.

But yes, his situation is as disadvantageous as ever, so he absolutely must win this round to have a chance in the third one and beyond.

    2. What about their A rank dice? X says its only for A rank dicers

    3. I think this only applies to unactivated Dice. A-Rank Dice have already been synchronised and can only be retrieved when their owners die.
