Help needed: translation

Greetings, Dicescans readers.

As you sure know, chapter 90 is less than two weeks away.

Jin announced that chapter as the limit of her commitment to DICE, or at the very least to regular, weekly releases, as her exam season approaches again and she has to increase her study rhythm.

We've discussed the matter internally and, while if needed we might have to cease our operations, things need not go to such an extreme necessarily. Jin is probably going to be able to produce scripts every now and then. However, this hobby will definitely take a back seat to real life, as well it should.

Still, weekly releases are possible if we find another translator to share work with her or, in the worst case, to replace her at least for a period.

We need someone who can translate a full DICE chapter within three days of the Korean release at most, because we need the remainder of the week to typeset and redraw it. The series is wordier than the average webtoon like Tower of god or The gamer, so the translator must be prepared to produce a long script.

Of course, the better their written English is, the easier it is to produce a working text, but as long as they can produce an intellligible script, I can proofread it, so the essential thing is that they master the Korean language. (Duh!)

If you meet these requirements and are interested, you can contact Jin using the instructions in the contact section linked at the top of this page, or me via splicer (dot) nil (at) gmail (dot) com .

One more thing to applicants: if you really want to impress us and at the same time try your hand with DICE, I have a suggestion. Try translating chapter 84 or 85 and submitting a script to us. After Mangaholics closed its operation, there is no place where these chapters can be read as a continuous, seamless strip as webtoons should. Jin doesn't have time to go back to these chapters, but I can typeset your script and make a release (I cannot promise we will redraw them, though) to help close the gap in Dicescans' chapters. (This is not mandatory, though, it's only a suggestion. If you know Korean and can write in English, feel free to contact us.)

If we have more than one applicant (I know, wishful thinking), we will select one based on a combination of how soon they applied and the quality of their script if they choose to submit one. (And of course we have ways of telling whether you based yourselves on Kenhyungnim's chapters.) Other applicants may still be contacted occasionally in an emergency, and if we have several good applications, we may even go with a pool of a few translators (like Silent Sky used to do) to ease the workload on each one.

If there are no applicants by the time we reach chapter 90, we will decide what to do then.

  2. I'd offer my services in a heartbeat, but I'm a lowly leacher, barely capable of speaking English, let alone a second language of any sort and I know nobody who speaks Korean who I could alert.

Best of luck anyways and your work has greatly been appreciated.
