DICE Ch. 98

Trying to figure out why there are rubber bands lying around on the desk. A pretty short chapter this time, but I was able to finish more quickly than usual. It was a nice break.. Enjoy~

  3. WHAT IS THE RED DIE?

    1. It's Mighty Thor's sledgehammer!

Well, Che-hyun told Dongtae to catch it, so it's probably not an offensive Die. Most likely a weapon.

      We'll find out next week.

    2. I have also noticed the sledgehammer is encased in a cogwheel. So maybe it's a tool of some sort.

    3. It was an ability dice. It was red like the cloaking ability dice Eunjoo found. It is probably from another skill tree as it is hinted that there is more than one skill tree.

    4. Relating to the skill tree, it might be a "tool" to unlocking a deeper use of time stop, such as time travel, or changing the time of one person, or changing a person's perception of time.

    5. Actually, Ability Dice are not red at first, they are bright gold. The one Eunju found had already been synchronised by Miju.

Besides, if you compare the colours, synchronised Ability Dice are crimson red, whereas the Die Che-hyun tossed is closer to magenta or purple. If you check chapter 95, it's more or less the same colour of Dice Bombs.

As for Skill Trees, so far the only way we know of expanding one's is by mean of Battle Mode: Strengthen.

I also doubt Che-hyun would give such a special Die to Dongtae instead of using it for himself. So I'm betting this is just a store item.

    6. It may be a sledgehammer but considering you can get that ya'know pretty much from any hardware store I think it's a repair dice like you use it on something and bam instant repairs

    1. Ah, I was messing around with settings and screwed up (I have no idea how I managed to change subscription settings when I was adjusting colors). It will (hopefully) be fine next time :)

  11. Interesting.
If Chehyun is indeed awesome, he can help Dongtae collect dices.
3 Blue dice for maximum of 18 dice points. Anybody remembers the cost of Timestop?

    1. I have already done the calculations elsewhere. It's one point for ten seconds, so Dongtae can stop time for three minutes. Which is a lot for such a powerful skill.

However, a triple six is very unlikely. The average score in a Dice roll is 3.5, so ten or eleven points is the more likely result.

As for Che-hyun, he is definitely clever. Whether he is using that cleverness to help Dongtae from within the Attack group, or whether he is pretending to help so Dongtae eliminates Che-hyun's competitors only for Che-hyun to backstab him when he has the chance, is something I'll reserve judgement on for now.

    2. But don't forget that it's possible to improve the luck with dices

    3. Yeah, we do know that from around chapter 42 (the student who uses Dice to succeed at the pop quiz), but if you want my opinion, adding luck to the mixture would complicate things so much that I'm glad the author didn't use that element again and wouldn't be surprised if I found out he regretted doing it in the first place. If you ask me, because that scene was a sample of how life was in a society of Dicers, the author was merely making up random examples to add diversity and wasn't really intent on having those examples influence the course of the story.

So for practical purposes I don't think increasing luck will play an important role in the story.

    4. You're right. But Che-hyun only got 1 round to backstab Dongtae on the 3rd for whatever reason.
The 2nd round more likely is a win for Dongtae with the increased Dice points.
