New delay, but fret not!

Well, no use postponing the inevitable.

Aia-chan is still having her exams, and none of the other applicants has answered so far (hope not lost there, though!), so naturally there will be no chapter 95 today or tomorrow.

In retrospect, it was good that 94 took so long, because this gives us some time before abstinence symptoms set in.

The good news is that Jin's final exam is next week and after that she will be able to resume working on the series. So the eight-week hiatus was reduced to a two-week one in the worst case: if we cannot find someone to work on 95 and 96 until Jin is done acing her tests, it won't be too hard to catch up afterwards.

  1. Don't worry about a thing, except maybe those tests. We've been getting spoiled with regular releases, so it will be good for us to have a while to wait.

    1. Thanks, and of course both Jin and Aia-chan are doing their best and have made tests their top priority.

(Fábio and I are both, I believe, past High School and College.)

But there are two other concerns. The lesser one is a speedscan group stepping in. After the sorry affair with Mangaholics, it would be a nuisance. (Of course, nothing we can do about that.)

The greater one is that DICE backlogs are a nightmare. Regular releases are the only antidote to that. Of course it pleases us that readers are happy, but our primary concern is a selfish one - scanlating one chapter a week is already quite difficult. We will have to sweat a little to catch up in the worst case - we will be two to three chapters behind - but it will be nothing compared to the 20-chapter backlog we had to clear last year.

One day I'll make a post detailing exactly why DICE is so difficult, compared to other webtoons. Suffice it to say that it is wordy, there's lots of text over art (The Gamer, for example, has most text within bubbles), the art is incredibly beautiful and complex to redraw (everything is in gradient, sometimes gradients over gradients), and even without doing SFX, typesetting is tricky (lots of different fonts, text effects, perspective and so on).

So if we can remain in sync with Korea, we can preserve our sanity.
