DICE Ch. 109

Art history is interesting, but why do I fall asleep every time I open the book? It's incredibly frustrating. I think I've conditioned my brain to feel drowsy the moment I see the cover. Welp.

  3. If X is the god of dice, who created dice? Dun dun dun mystery ooOoooOoo... Author would probably use that pretense to expand the dice world.

  5. well X might be a previous winner, maybe thats what happens when you win. you get the power of a god but you are trapped in the world of dice until someone wins and takes your place.

  10. -The final die appeared in the prologue. But it does seems like X got it the easy way without going through all the fight.
-That explains why Mooyoung has yet to show up. All he needs to do is to defeat the new S ranker.
-Why is Taebin smiling in the end? Was it coming from another person? Does he has more than 2 split personality? (Taebin + Mooyoung)

  11. - Yeah the Prologue seems to introduce how X got the Final Die, i'm guessing it went to him because his desire to change was more prominent then everybody else. (I'm guessing that's the goal all of all of this, in one way or another X has some sort of feeling towards people changing)
    - Yeah as Mooyoung said the more dicers = the weaker X is, so other then killing people for his 3 other die, I dont think we'll see him much.
But I'm interested to see who the Author kills of for his other 3 powers (Float: I'm assuming the teacher(Probably X will cause this cause he hates adults(which is probably cause his parents)) (Cloaking: It better be Mr. "Family" guy hes annoying asf.) (Clairvoyance: See this is where it gets interesting, since there is no other people except Mio with this power (shown) so it seems that Mooyoung will end of going after Mio (-Hope she dosn't die or im so dropping this manga Mio>Eunju) so I guess we can assume there is a arc about this coming soon?)
    - And as you said I feel like Taebin's repressed memories have feelings leaking through which caused him to smile when the dice were released. But I also feel like there's some foreshadowing going on because awhile back the author said that after Taebin saw Mooyoung that day he never saw him again but now hes showing off hidden memories like really?
That also brings forth the question when Taebin and Eunju met at the cafe and Mooyoung came he said "Found you", now why would he be saying that when they are working together through hidden memories? (I feel like as something happened between the time he last saw Mooyoung and current day.
    - Also guys idk if this is just me but I noticed that X is alone? Like hes basically a God (he obviously isn't God)
so why would he put himself in a situation where hes alone?
And shall we never forget the rule of games, what game creator does not play his own game? X made this but I feel like something up with him not being apart of this more then just watching.
    - Also based on the scenery when X got the Final Die, its obviously recent, so when it showed that peoples are A) reincarnated and B) there lives are decided via reincarnation, that these die are much much older then X and came from the real God maybe? Because X can't make die, the final die does that and its powers are limited so who made the die and how was it involved in the past?
    - Also I realised how Mooyoung decided to suggest a number (16) that left 4 A Rankers behind when the 2 S Rankers were made so that when he fights X again hes weaker by 4 die. So that means at the end of this theres gonna be 6 survivors/16 (not so bad to comparison of 1/6), so who's it gonna be?
My concern mainly revolves around Eujun as I see her becoming the new "antagonist", since as X keeps saying if she becomes a dicer she'll be the most powerful ever and we are obviously gonna see our protagonist as a S Ranker by the end of this(hopefully or this might get dull). So if we have our Protagonist in seat one who's gonna take seat 2, Mooyoung or Eujun?
So anxious to find out, but I still hope Eujun dies and Mio ends up winning cause I seriously hate when people go after the way wrong person *cough* ToG (Rachels awesome but shes some biotch) HotD (The sword girl is so awesome(And for those who have not seen this show dont watch the OVA) *cough* etc etc.

    1. - I think the Final Die went to him just because it had no master and he was the first one to arrive at the site where it fell. It was in a "first come, first served" basis.

      - Mooyoung and Taebin are sharing the same personality, that's why Taebin has memory loss. As for chapter 67, he was probably hallucinating. Even while he remembers Mooyoung with fear, he works towards his goals unconsciously.

      - According to X's expectations, there will be two S-Rank candidates. So yeah, I do think Mio has a Death Flag over her (or at least a Dawn Flag), regardless of whether another Clairvoyant appears or not.

      - Mooyoung just suggested 16 because that's the number of pieces in a chess army.

      - Eunju will most likely survive because she hasn't become a Dicer. I see her giving Dongtae the last Die he needs to become an S-Ranker in the future. Her becoming an antagonist is kinda unlikely, but not impossible.

    2. -Well yeah the FD could of landed their just by accident but I still do think their is hidden meaning behind it. Especially cause as I said before the kid with power to change the world, didn't even change himself?

-Also I don't think they are "sharing personalities" that is to far fetched. Yes, he is unconsciously working towards Mooyoungs goals but he never became Mooyoung. Its more like Taebin became the "Taebin" that hates Mooyoung and not like him(like the real version of himself)

      - Well I can't exactly tell based off the translation due to it seems people are putting it up to interpretation on whether or not X plans on doing a S Ranker Vs S Ranker- Winner fights X or S Ranker + S Ranker vs X.
There is also the point that we could all be looking at this wrong because when the rules were changed it was said that "The A ranker who gets all 6 powers and is the last one standing" (or something like that) gets to fight X. So if that's true that means we are dealing with only 1 survivor who has all 6 powers and 11 extra dice. (Would be so sad cause then Mio dies and my heart would break)
(*Also note correction to my first post it would be 2 S Rankers and 5 survivors due the fact Mooyoung started with 2 powers*
Which leads to my next point how the hell does he have two powers? Who did he manage to take the die from when they completed the mission? (Which also leads to the point where else was the dice spread as so far we haven't seen dicer's appear from anywhere else)
      - On the point of powers when we compare them it quickly becomes obvious whats better then others (Or closely)
      1) Time Stop 2) Teleportation 3) Cloaking(Personal Opinion) 4) Telekinesis 5) Fly 6) Clairvoyance
(Of course everything past 3-5 are my personal opinion, other then the fact that Telekinesis should be 3rd if somebody just through around acid but its Dice:To use ratio is just way to high)
Which I get because this is all about the roll of the die, but I still feel like there is something going to happen that will make clairvoyance some special power. (Which yet again leads me to another question about the stacked profiles? Why did Taebins old friend have the stacked profiles? I get Taebin because hes really in essence 2 people) ---> (Also author failure (Chapter 83?) in our lovely protagonists profile it failed to show what his power was when he is obviously A ranker *facepalm*)

      - I feel like the chess thing is just to simple, hes trying to change the world and when he makes the plan he decides the number because hes standing on a chess board?

      - Also why do you think Eunju will survive because she hasn't become a dicer? In all odds the highest survival rate is for those who are dicers but not A rankers and have some sense about them by acting like a non dicer.

Also why would Eunju give the dice to Mr Protagonist when she's in love with Taebin? Yeah hes the "bad guy" cause hes helping Mooyoung but in all honesty Mooyoungs the good guy. Hes doing a little bad to achieve some good (Yeah murder is not a little bad, but with the final die it is a little bad because he should be able to bring people back at some capacity+ hes ending X's game once and for all). Eunju just wants the dice to go away so if she really wants that she wouldn't give the dice to Dongtae because if he gets the final die the dice wont go away, it'll become accessible to everybody (few dice to everybody in the world most likely and of course some rule changes). And continuing of that I don't even think she'd give it to Taebin because Mooyoung doesn't want to go back he just wants to change it all. So I still beleive we are going to see Eunju become a dicer and go off and try to stop the dice.

    3. Final point, if you go back and watch the scene where Mooyoung kills the 6 it says that when A Ranker dies they will drop the counter die not the A Ranker die. Which means that there is a chance that even if my scenario happens where we end up with 1 S ranker and 0 A Rankers we could have survivors (Yay for +% of Mio survival :D); Which led me to believe that Mooyoung will bring the people who died back because he obviously knew about how the dice work in PVP, it wasnt his first time at bat. He obviously could of just beat them up till the dice dropped out and then made them reroll their dice and heal themselves like common.

    4. - Well, I have cleaned the next chapter, so I won't say anything more on the matter of shared personalities, you see for yourself. (And just so you know, I wrote that before I had seen the chapter.)

      - I myself said last week in another place that I don't know that the two S-Rank candidates must fight each other or whether they can cooperate. Mooyoung himself does seem to think he will need to fight his rival, whoever they are, before taking X on. I wonder whether Taebin could take over control again and fight X alongside Dongtae.

      - If there are two S-Rank candidates, unless she is one of them (which is unlikely), Mio dies or becomes like Dawn. And that's it. Given that her role in plot progression is at best marginal, I'm betting the former to serve as a catalyst to a change in Dongtae's attitude.

      - Yes, it is possible that the A-Rank Die will drop and the Soul Die won't. I even wrote that last week in the DICE Wikia. That's what happened in Dawn's case. May I point out, though, that Dawn was extremely lucky: so far as we know, she is the only case of an A-Ranker who survived having their Dice harvested. Taebin's four other companions and Gilma died. So did Miju and Sungchul, not because of the harvest, of course, but because of their injuries, but the point is still valid that the amount of injury an A-Ranker must sustain to drop their A-Rank Die puts them within an inch of dying.

      - Mooyoung had two powers, one of them being Taebin's Teleportation (because they are the same person as Dawn has intimated in chapters 106-107), and the other being his own Time Pause. This one must be a minor plot hole, because his Time Pause Die was harvested in chapter 109. But it's not a very important mistake, we just have to rationalise that either X allowed him to keep his own original skill, or that he pursued a new A-Rank quest and received the same skill again. It doesn't affect plot progression. Incidentally, we need to rationalise likewise how Dawn still has her skill when Mooyoung harvested her Levitation Die.

      - It's not a matter of what you feel or not. It's said in the text, re-read chapter 109: Mooyoung had to think of something to propose to X, looked at the chess board and had the idea on the spot. That's all there is to it. He couldn't think longer because X was about to send him away and he had to think fast.

      - The reasons I think Eunju will survive is a) X is more interested in her than in anyone else and doesn't have any reason to make a move against her; b) if cornered, she can surrender her Dice and does not need to suffer injuries to do that, much less to die; c) she is the female protagonist and dying just to surrender her Die would make no sense; d) no one other than Mio and Dongtae even knows she has an A-Rank Die. All this could change, but I find it unlikely.

    5. (continued)

      - Eunju is no longer in love with Taebin for all we know. She is devastated by his lying to her. And she said to X she would give the Die to a Dicer whom she can trust. I am yet to see anything that deviates from that intention. Frankly, her becoming a Dicer, while possible, would make little sense given that her role so far has been to show what is morally right in this story. Besides, Mio has already given reasons why her becoming an A-Ranker would make little difference.

      - If Dongtae becomes the S-Ranker, nothing will change. It has been made clear that the Game Master can set the rules of the competition, but he cannot distribute Dice to everybody because a) the Final Die loses power when A-Rank Die are distributed and b) even ordinary Dice are distributed according to people's desires and that won't change. I won't really go into detail because I have written at length about that elsewhere and don't feel like repeating myself, but in my view this whole story is about Dongtae realising his mistake in believing in Dice as a solution to his, or the world's, problems.

      - Your A-Rank scale is pretty arbitrary, other than Time Pause being first. Mine is 1) Time Pause 2) Cloaking 3) Psychokinesis 4) Teleportation 5) Levitation 6) Clairvoyance I won't go into details why, but actually we don't know the Dice:Use ration of Psychokinesis, it's the only one that hasn't been given. If we factor in Derivative Skills, though, any scale becomes irrelevant (other than Time Pause which is just too overpowered).

    6. Well we know Dawn got her powers back by just playing the game again that's obvious. ( Same thing with Moo young, and as I said even if they are sharing their personalities that dosn't mean he got his ability. Mooyoung would of had to taken a die from a ranker before they rolled it )

Also this shared personality is still kinda weird because Taebin and Mooyoung are both considered A Ranker candidates.

And honestly I don't feel as if Mio will just because a catalyst (or the extent of a catalyst due to death) But you are right Eunju becoming the antagonist by apposing view point is unlikely I think it would still be interesting.

Also I think your wrong about the point of the story, because the dice are a extremely helpful way to fix the world. Their only problem is that X is controlling them and he has emotional issues. Its like X has been saying and most people have been saying that you cant look at it from the person who started at the top you have to realize some people start at the bottom and just because you can "make" your own way in the world, sometimes thats just impossible.

    7. Sorry, I won't enter this discussion about Dice from a moral point of view. I have written extensively on the matter and don't fell like repeating myself.

If you are interested in reading what I have to say on the matter, a good starting point is the discussion I had with other readers here: http://www.dicescans.com/2015/07/dice-chapter-105-reader.html

It will point you to more detailed essays on the matter if you want to read more.

If after that you still disagree with me, I'll leave to you the choice either to present arguments (forgive me, but what you said so far I have discussed at length for a long time) or to hold to your opinion as I hold to mine.

  12. A-rank skills are pretty subjective. Other than Time Pause being No.1. We don't know the extend of the skill tree, so all we can do is making assumption. So based on current circumstances: 1. Time Pause 2. Teleport 3/4/5 in no particular order, Cloaking, Leviation, Psychokinesis, 6. Clairvoyance.

But I am guessing the final/fully developed skill, Clairvoyance will be No.1, a tie with Time Pause in power.
If you have been playing games or any kind of story, the weakest and most difficult path always become the strongest in the end. ;)

Yet again, it doesn't matter because once you become S-ranker you quickly become X challenger, and loses your power. :S
